Classroom Resources

In order to best meet the needs of our students, we utilize two research based programs that are unique to the Learning Center environment here in Burlington.

-Saxon Math is the core math program for our Grade 3-5 math curriculum. Saxon Math is highly structured and supports all learning styles. Additional activities and resources are available to support parents and students at home. Students in our classroom are currently working in the Math 2, Math 3, Math 4, and Math 5 programs.

-The Learning Center utilizes the SRA Program for reading and language arts instruction. SRA (Science Research Associates, Inc.) uses a "highly explicit, systematic approach of Direct Instruction to accelerate reading and help students achieve a high rate of success. Three strands address Reading, Language Arts, and Literature through a common instructional design that helps students learn more efficiently". At Home Resources

We recommend a number of websites for children to practice their math skills and reading skills at home.

-http://letsgolearn.com is a website that focuses on skills your child needs to practice. Student login codes went home in November. Please let me know if you need another copy of the login form.
-Saxon Math has an on-line activities page that is geared towards third, fourth, and fifth grade math students
-Math.about.com: A great resource for math facts worksheets.
-www.multiplication.com: Another great resource for multiplcation fact worksheets and games.
